The Express is the true story of a football player, All-American running back for Syracuse University two times. Ernie Davis helped his team, in 1960 advance to the national championship. He also became the first ever ‘black’ man to conquer the Heisman Trophy. That same year, he got picked first in the NFL draft. Ernie Davis was not able to play in the National Football League, unfortunately. Because in the summer of 1962, he was diagnosed with leukemia and almost a year after the diagnosis, Ernie Davis died. He was only 23 years old. The latest movie is distributed by Universal Pictures and stars Rob Brown as Ernie Davis. Dennis Quaid, Kris Wolff and Darrin Dewitt Henson. The film is directed by Gary Fleder.
